Training Scores in Panem

How the Gamemaker rating system works and what your score means for your odds in the arena.

In the Hunger Games, every tribute undergoes private training sessions over three days. On the final day, each tribute performs before the Gamemakers, who assign a score from 1 to 12. Career tributes from Districts 1, 2, and 4 typically score 8–10. Katniss Everdeen scored an 11, the highest of her year. Peeta scored an 8. A score of 12 is extremely rare.

A high training score attracts sponsors — and makes you a target. A low score can be a strategic choice: hide your real abilities until the arena.

1–3

Untrained. Low threat. Likely early elimination.

4–6

Some skill. Moderate threat. Could survive with luck and allies.

7–9

Trained. Significant threat. Sponsor magnet. Target on your back.

10–12

Elite. Career-level or exceptional. Everyone is watching you.

All 4 Training Score Tiers

Preview every possible result in this training score quiz. Each tier reveals your rating, how you compare to known tributes, and what your score means in the arena.

10–12: Elite

Career-level threat
You trained like a Career. The Gamemakers see a serious contender. Sponsors fight over you. You compare to Katniss (11), Finnick (10), and Cato (10).

7–9: Solid

Significant threat
Well-rounded skills. You may not dominate every station, but you are dangerous. Sponsors notice. Comparable to Peeta (8) and Haymitch (9).

4–6: Moderate

Some training potential
You have clear strengths and clear gaps. The Gamemakers see potential with coaching. You could surprise people — or get underestimated, which is its own weapon.

1–3: Low

Minimal formal training
Raw talent only. No formal combat or survival training detected. But history shows that the lowest-scored tributes sometimes live the longest — by staying invisible.

Training Score FAQ

Common questions about Hunger Games training scores and how they work.

What is a Hunger Games training score?Toggle answer
In the Hunger Games, every tribute undergoes private training sessions over three days. On the final day, each tribute performs before the Gamemakers, who assign a score from 1 to 12 based on their demonstrated skills. The score determines sponsor attention and how other tributes perceive you. A high score attracts sponsors but also marks you as a target.
What training score did Katniss earn?Toggle answer
Katniss Everdeen earned an 11 — the highest training score of her Hunger Games year. She impressed the Gamemakers by shooting an arrow through an apple in a roasted pig's mouth after they initially ignored her performance. An 11 is exceptionally rare and immediately made her a top contender.
What is considered a good training score?Toggle answer
Career tributes from Districts 1, 2, and 4 typically score between 8 and 10. Scores of 4-6 indicate moderate skill. Scores of 1-3 typically mean an untrained tribute with low odds. A 10 or higher is elite and rare. The highest possible score is 12, though this is almost never awarded.
What skills are evaluated in training?Toggle answer
Tributes are evaluated across five key areas: physical skills (speed, strength, agility, endurance, combat), survival knowledge (edible plants, shelter, fire, water, tracking), weapon proficiency (bow, knife, spear, sword, hand-to-hand), strategy and tactics (arena awareness, alliances, resource management), and mental fortitude (fear control, pain tolerance, focus, adaptability).

How the Training Score Quiz Works

This Hunger Games training score quiz evaluates your skills across five Gamemaker dimensions — just like a real tribute evaluation in the Training Center.

Physical Skills

Your raw athletic ability — speed, strength, agility, endurance, and combat conditioning. The foundation every tribute needs.

Survival Knowledge

Can you find water, identify edible plants, build shelter, start fire, and track prey? The arena kills the unprepared first.

Weapon Proficiency

Your skill with weapons — bow, knife, spear, sword, or hand-to-hand. The Gamemakers watch this station closely.

Strategy & Tactics

Arena awareness, alliance judgment, resource management, and knowing when to fight versus when to hide.

Mental Fortitude

Fear control, pain tolerance, focus under pressure, and adaptability. The arena breaks minds before it breaks bodies.

Each of your 15 answers scores across these five dimensions. Your combined total is normalized to a 1-to-12 Gamemaker rating. This is a Hunger Games training evaluation quiz, not just a personality test.
